In-service equipment degrades over time due to wear and tear at a rate that is influenced by the application severity, operating conditions, and your maintenance strategy. Companies employ Predictive Maintenance (PdM) as a component of their overall maintenance strategy.
PdM is a set of technologies used to assess the health condition of in-service equipment by monitoring parameters such as vibrations, temperature, lubricant condition, ultrasonic levels, etc...to determine if defects or other related degradation mechanisms are present or incipient. This service is not intrusive and does not affect the operation of the equipment. The frequency of the health assessment is determined based on the type of operation, age & condition of the equipment, criticality, and other factors.
At Mid Coast Solutions, we combine various PdM technology layers per customer needs and requirements to create a total reliability plan to track and trend asset health and parameters, and detect defects early enough to allow the client time to plan corrective action and avoid costly shutdowns. Integral to the program is an intelligent interactive reporting platform allowing the end user to view their data anytime anywhere without having to scroll through pages of static documents or search emails to locate a report.

Lubrication Management & Surveys Mechanical wear due to contamination is responsible for more than 50% of machine failure. Every client and every site has its own set of goals and requirements therefore creating custom solutions and implementation a unique process. PdM related wireless sensors such as vibration and temperature can be practical but the implementation requires more careful consideration and planning. Wireless sensors are most valuable when used in hard to reach locations or when continuous monitoring is needed. A wireless vibration sensor specifically is a perfect indicator or alert that an abnormal event took place. If further diagnostics are required, deploying traditional FFT analyzer is still the standard. |
